Mid-Hudson Misfits Roller Derby
I was hired as a freelance graphic designer for the Mid-Hudson Misfits. a roller derby team based in Accord, NY. While working with them, I created a new logo for both their adult team, the Misfits, and their minor team, the Mischiefs. I also created multiple event fliers and social media assets including static and animated promotion and a Facebook cover banner.

When talking to the team about what they wanted to be represented in the logo, many skaters agreed that they wanted some sort of mention of the Hudson Valley, which is what inspired the New York silhouette. The pink star, which is a big motif for their team, is around the Mid-Hudson Valley area as well and the team seemed to enjoy that connection. The silhouette of the skater is also of one of the team members during one of their bouts, which I felt gives it even more of a personal touch for the team. We kept the font from their previous branding because they collectively agreed they didn't want to change that, but I added a secondary font in the wordmark above.
Iterations of Logo
Their team colors were the pink and brown that you can see in these older iterations, but I introduced the gray that is seen in the final logo and the team agreed on changing the brown to the gray overall as they feel it fit better for their overall image.
Fliers

The team then gave me a list of upcoming scrimmages and other events that all had some sort of theme. They wanted to make fliers and social media posts for each of them according to the theme.

Final Logo - Mischiefs

The Mischiefs
After showing the iterations of the logo to the team, they offered me to create a logo for the minor team (anyone under 18). They wanted it to be similar to the final logo they chose for the Misfits but with the colors and imagery of the minor team, the Mischiefs. They decided on the skull variation of the Misfits logo but using the purple the Mischiefs already use, so that's what I did!
